About The Position

The Town of Brookline is seeking a full-time Lead Toddler Teacher for the Soule Early Childhood Center, a warm and engaging program with spacious indoor and outdoor learning areas. The Lead Toddler Teacher plays a key role in creating a nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment for children 15 months to 2.8 years while serving as the primary classroom leader, developing strong relationships with families, guiding teaching teams, and ensuring curriculum and classroom practices meet EEC standards. The role includes planning and implementing curriculum that meets the cognitive, emotional, social and physical needs of the Center’s children, maintaining safety, and fostering a collaborative and professional classroom atmosphere.

Requirements

  • EEC Lead Teacher qualified
  • Experience in early childhood education
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential
  • Knowledge of EEC licensing regulations and early childhood best practices
  • CPR and First Aid certification is required
  • Comfortable using basic computer applications
  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds while engaging in the physical activities typical of an early childhood setting

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience in early childhood education

Responsibilities

  • Plan and maintain a developmentally appropriate classroom environment, materials, and daily schedule.
  • Lead curriculum planning and implementation; ensure safety, smooth transitions, and positive peer interactions.
  • Use positive discipline practices that support problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Observe and document children’s development; maintain records and portfolios; conduct assessments and lead parent-teacher conferences twice annually.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, create a welcoming environment, and participate in parent meetings.
  • Lead weekly team meetings; support, guide, and model best practices for Teachers and Assistant Teachers.
  • Assist with onboarding new staff; supervise volunteers and substitute teachers.
  • Collaborate with the Director on professional development needs and participate in trainings and staff evaluations.
  • Uphold the mission, policies, and EEC regulations of the center; perform related duties as needed.
  • Performs other related tasks as required.
