About The Position

Central Track Services is seeking an experienced Lead Thermite Welder / CDL Driver for a position based out of Frankfort, KY. This role requires 100% travel throughout the United States and involves maintaining and repairing railroad infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a skilled thermite welder who prioritizes safety and quality, enjoys travel, and can perform welding, transport equipment, operate company vehicles, and assist in coordinating field activities. Opportunities exist to assist with track maintenance, rail replacement, and other railroad construction tasks. Company-paid lodging, daily per diem, and frequent overtime opportunities are provided.

Requirements

Demonstrated thermite welding experience.
Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
At least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED.
Ability to travel extensively (100% travel required).
Strong commitment to safety.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of work.
Ability to represent the company professionally on customer job sites.
Comfortable working outdoors.
Ability to adapt to changing project needs.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience leading small crews.
Additional railroad maintenance experience.
Track construction experience.
Rail cutting experience.
Welding experience (beyond thermite welding).

Responsibilities

Performing thermite welds on railroad track.
Inspecting completed welds and ensuring quality workmanship.
Preparing rail for welding.
Operating equipment necessary for safe rail repair.
Transporting equipment and materials.
Operating company vehicles requiring a Class B CDL.
Assisting with rail replacement, track construction, track restoration, material handling, and general railroad maintenance.
Leading small crews on assigned projects.
Coordinating daily activities in the field.
Working closely with other railroad professionals.
