About The Position

Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Lead Terminal Operator on a temporary basis at our Fertilizer Terminal in Hanley, SK. This role involves assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Fertilizer Terminal, monitoring and operating terminal equipment for loading/unloading product, and ensuring Operations staff are trained in shipping/receiving, equipment maintenance, and safety protocols. The position also includes assisting with rail coordination, operating a track mobile, completing rail inspections, and responding to management and operational issues. Key tasks involve monitoring quality controls, screening inbound and outbound materials, running conditioners, and maintaining equipment and work areas. The role also requires participation in safety meetings, plant inspections, and task observations, as well as maintaining a clean shipping and receiving area to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with safety procedures and personal protective equipment usage.

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Comfortable climbing heights up to 140ft.
  • Able to work around dust.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude of terminal maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of fertilizer agriculture products.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with mobile equipment and/or agriculture operations is an asset.
  • Mobile equipment certifications.
  • First aid training are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Fertilizer Terminal.
  • Monitor and operate the terminal equipment to load/unload product.
  • Ensure Operations staff are trained in shipping/receiving, equipment maintenance and safety protocol; provide additional training when required.
  • Assist with rail coordination and operating a track mobile; complete rail inspections and ensure proper documentation.
  • Respond to management concerns and respond to operational, product and maintenance issues to the Terminal Supervisor.
  • Monitor and manage quality controls (e.g., oiling dusty product), screen outbound and inbound, run conditioners, and clean/maintain equipment and work floors.
  • Participate in safety meetings, plant inspections, and task observations.
  • Maintain clean shipping and receiving area to prevent contamination of fertilizer products and ensure full compliance with safety procedures and personal protective equipment.
