Under the direction of a radiologist, the Lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist conducts nuclear medicine procedures using imaging equipment and radioactive materials to assist in the diagnosis of disease and injuries. Responsible for radiation safety and quality control procedures, and delivers patient care and education before, during and after diagnostic imaging procedures. Serves as a technical resource on radiologic procedures, assists in developing and reviewing routine procedures, and participates in the quality assurance and performance improvement process. The Lead also supports department management with administrative and leadership duties as assigned, including scheduling, training and mentoring staff nuclear medicine technologists, and may act in a supervisory capacity in the absence of the regular supervisor.
