About The Position

Responsible for leading crews in the construction and installation of ITS field devices, communications systems, and traffic signal systems. Performs on-site installation of electronic, electromechanical, and low-voltage electrical equipment. This position may include various aspects of field support, including system hardware and software, PCs, and IP telephony, networking, and wireless networking. Determines the most cost-effective and practical installation methods to minimize customer downtime and expense. Prepares proposals for time, labor, and materials.

Requirements

  • Typically requires 8+ years of related experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Minimum of two years of experience leading or managing field crews.
  • Must successfully complete all required background and drug screenings initiated by TransCore as part of the hiring process. When required by the project, must also successfully complete Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and State Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) background screenings.
  • Communications construction experience.
  • Energetic and self-motivated.
  • Experience operating bucket trucks and the ability to safely work at heights ranging from approximately 40 to 120 feet.
  • Experience with outside plant fiber optic installation.
  • Knowledge of FDOT Standard Specifications and Design Standards.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred.
  • Florida Advanced Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs equipment installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Generates documentation supporting installation activities.
  • Generates proposals detailing the time, labor, materials, and equipment required to perform assigned tasks.
  • Works closely with customers to determine appropriate solutions.
  • Assists with the training of technicians on newly installed equipment.
  • Prepares schematics and procedures for new equipment.
  • Coordinates activities of subcontractors assisting with project execution.
  • Supervises crews performing assigned work.
  • Provides support to installation technicians.
  • Operates company vehicles and equipment as required to perform assigned duties.
  • Drives locally and long distances to project and customer worksites as required.
