About The Position

The Lead Technician will be responsible for operating various equipment to excavate and install pole foundations, poles, concrete bases, and junction boxes. This role also involves operating a bucket truck to install solar panels, cameras, and other equipment, as well as using a concrete saw for inductive loop and sensor installation in roadways. The technician will also be responsible for pulling wire in underground conduits, installing and ensuring the operation of equipment in cabinets, and maintaining accurate records with photographs and documents. Troubleshooting and repair of existing Permanent Traffic Count Station infrastructure, conducting temporary closures for work zones, and supervising a small crew to ensure safety, efficiency, and job completion are key aspects of this role. Additionally, the Lead Technician will be responsible for the safe transportation of crew and equipment to and from job sites and adhering to all safety requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Valid Driver’s License with excellent driving record
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen as well as random testing
  • Travel both in and out of state for up to several weeks at a time.
  • Ability and willingness to work nights.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 50 lbs., reach, stoop, bend.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment from handheld to large gasoline driven saws.
  • Ability to work in a bucket truck or man lift.
  • Operation of walk behind concrete saw.
  • Construction experience in general construction or underground utility work.
  • Must meet company policies and standards as well as federal and state laws regarding a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in the use of digital voltmeter and various equipment for testing.
  • Equipment operation such as bucket truck, excavator, trencher, skid steer, man lift.
  • Traffic control standards and involvement in application.
  • Experience with light electrical work and associated hand tools.
  • Experience with traffic counting equipment - Diamond, PEEK, Q-Free
  • Experience with inductive traffic loops or axle sensors.
  • Experience with MOT

  • Safe transportation of crew and equipment to and from jobsite.
  • Follow all safety requirements to ensure safety of yourself and others onsite.
