About The Position

The Lead Technician, Facility Services, Exterior Services, oversees and guides associates in maintaining high-quality exterior facility standards. This role ensures compliance with safety and operational policies while managing landscaping, seasonal maintenance, and equipment upkeep. The position involves coordinating work assignments, providing technical support, and fostering team development to meet business objectives. The Lead Technician also manages vendor relationships, budget preparation, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance facility sustainability and efficiency. Strong project management and leadership skills are essential to successfully support facility operations and deliver exceptional service. The team collaborates to achieve shared objectives while upholding high standards of quality and safety. Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience in supervising and developing teams within facility or exterior services.
  • Strong knowledge of horticulture, landscaping, and exterior maintenance practices.
  • Ability to manage compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and DOT.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining heavy machinery and powered equipment safely.
  • Experience in project and vendor management, including budgeting and procurement.
  • Excellent communication skills to provide technical guidance and resolve customer concerns.
  • Capability to leverage technology for work order management and documentation.
  • Commitment to upholding company policies and promoting a culture of integrity and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to successfully complete a DOT physical and secure medical certification during pre-hire contingency and ability to maintain a minimum of a 90 day Medical Examiner’s Certification (MEC) card.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and able to pass a motor vehicle report.
  • No convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI, or reckless driving involving alcohol or drugs within the last three (3) years.
  • No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years, if driving a commercial motor vehicle.
  • No serious traffic violations (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the 3 years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle.
  • No preventable accidents (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last 3 years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle.
  • As required by section 391.11(b)(2) of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, ability to read and speak in the English language.
  • 2 years’ experience in the landscaping/gardening industry.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in horticulture or related area.
  • Certified nursery and/or landscape professional.
  • Experience as landscaping/gardening crew leader or supervisor.
  • Experience using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • State/local licensing where required (for example, Florida, Texas, California).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support associates by assigning duties, providing feedback, and monitoring performance to ensure quality and safety standards.
  • Train and coach team members on company policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Manage landscaping and exterior maintenance tasks, including planting, pruning, pest control, and seasonal snow and ice removal.
  • Operate and maintain heavy machinery and vehicles, ensuring safety checks and proper documentation.
  • Coordinate equipment purchases, maintenance, and inventory to optimize resources and reduce costs.
  • Lead team collaboration to meet business priorities and implement process improvements.
