About The Position

Eaton’s PCD Power Components Division is currently seeking a Lead Technician - Engineering to join the team. This role is based at the Horseheads, NY manufacturing site. The primary purpose of this position is to conduct electrical testing in the Horseheads, NY High power lab, to meet the demands of Eaton’s Vacuum Interrupters (VI) engineering departments to achieve product development, sustaining, and innovation goals. Additional requirements will be to help maintain lab test equipment, prepare and process test reports for approval, contribute to lab workload, 5S activities, and support safety initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Technology from an accredited institution

  • Solid understanding of shop equipment maintenance and testing procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to analyze each assigned project with the project engineer to reach an understanding of the test program to be followed, organize and take responsibility for its execution with recording and reporting the results.
  • Follow Electrical Safety and MESH activities to ensure safe conditions have been met in accordance with appropriate legislative and Eaton safety policies. Proactively provide feedback based on test results and observations, to improve product function or integrity throughout the development stage.
  • Assist in the creation of tests and test fixtures. Assists with the designs and construction of test fixtures as required to perform necessary functional and electrical tests.
  • Follow standard test procedures. Fully understand the capabilities, use, and care of available equipment.
  • Help organize and maintain lab environment to meet 5S goals and ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Conduct daily duties to ensure lab functionality, contribute to performing preventative maintenance and communicate to supervisor any issues or concerns.
  • Share knowledge with other technicians as necessary to improve technician pool’s core knowledge and capabilities.
  • Execute 100% of monthly safety inspection, in coordination with the M.E.S.H. Management of Environment, Safety, Security, and Health Policies.
  • Complete all EHS Environment, Health, and Safety training assigned
