About The Position

Levi Strauss & Co. is seeking an experienced Lead Technical Product Manager to define the strategy for their global Commerce Platform. This platform powers Levi's digital commerce experiences across channels and markets, encompassing areas like product and inventory, cart and checkout, payments, promotions, identity, search, analytics, observability, and related services and integrations. The company is undergoing a significant transformation, moving from a legacy monolithic platform to a modern architecture based on domain-driven services, APIs, event-driven integration, and reusable platform capabilities. In this role, you will define the strategy and roadmap for key Commerce Platform capabilities, collaborating with Engineering, Architecture, Digital Product, and business stakeholders to translate customer and commercial needs into scalable technical solutions. Your responsibilities will extend beyond requirement gathering to shaping the platform's future by identifying opportunities for reusable capabilities, addressing architectural and process constraints, prioritizing investments for long-term value, and balancing short-term needs with long-term scalability and complexity. The ideal candidate will possess product judgment, technical fluency, and curiosity, comfortable operating in a changing landscape, analyzing complex systems and business processes, challenging assumptions, and bringing structure to cross-technical boundary problems.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in Technical Product Management, Product Management for technical platforms, or a related role.
  • Experience managing product strategy and roadmaps for complex technical products or platform capabilities.
  • Technical fluency and demonstrated ability to participate in architecture and system design conversations.
  • Experience working closely with software engineers and architects on APIs, distributed systems, integrations, and modern platform architectures.
  • Understand complex systems, identify upstream and downstream dependencies, and reason about how product decisions affect a broader technology ecosystem.
  • Experience translating ambiguous business and technical problems into clear product strategies, requirements, roadmaps, and executable backlogs.
  • Balance customer and value with technical health, scalability, maintainability, cost, and delivery complexity.
  • Experience using data to support product decisions and measure outcomes.
  • Influence across multiple teams and organizational boundaries.
  • Experience communicating complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts and trade-offs to senior business and technology leaders.
  • Comfortable bringing clarity, structure, and momentum to complex problems.
  • Experience building platforms or services consumed by multiple products, channels, markets, or engineering teams.
  • Experience working in global environments with distributed engineering and product teams.
  • Experience managing strategic relationships with technology vendors and external partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building technical products or platform capabilities within digital commerce, retail, or another large-scale transactional ecosystem.
  • Experience with commerce platform modernization, migration, or replatforming programs.
  • Familiarity with commerce technologies such as SAP Commerce (Hybris), SCAYLE, or other headless or composable commerce platforms.
  • Experience with domain-driven design, API-first platforms, event-driven architectures, and modern integration patterns.
  • Familiarity with commerce domains such as product information, inventory, cart, checkout, payments, fraud, promotions, identity, search, order management, and analytics.
  • Experience using AI and automation to improve product management, engineering productivity, or platform operations.

Responsibilities

  • Build and evolve the product strategy for defined capabilities within the Commerce Platform.
  • Translate customer, business, and commercial needs into scalable technical products and platform capabilities.
  • Partner with Engineering and Architecture to shape platform strategy, identifying opportunities to unlock value through new technologies and architectural capabilities while proactively addressing technical constraints, tradeoffs, and long-term risks.
  • Balance near-term needs with foundational platform investments, technical health, scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Build toward reusable, configurable platform capabilities rather than market-, channel-, or use-case-specific implementations.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify the platform, reduce duplication, and establish clearer product and domain boundaries.
  • Define clear product outcomes and success measures and use them to guide roadmap decisions.
  • Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle for the platform capabilities you own, from discovery and strategy through implementation, launch, adoption, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with teams to understand the underlying problem, desired outcome, and value rather than simply translating requests into features.
  • Work with engineers and architects to translate product strategy into clear technical requirements and executable work.
  • Manage the product backlog, including epics, user stories, requirements, acceptance criteria, and sequencing.
  • Ensure teams have business and technical context to make implementation decisions.
  • Make prioritization and trade-off decisions across scope, value, cost, technical complexity, risk, and time to market.
  • Track outcomes after launch and use insights, adoption, operational data, and partner feedback to inform future investment.
  • Partner with Engineering and Architecture to evolve Commerce Platform capabilities toward modular, scalable, and reusable services.
  • Champion API-first, domain-driven, and event-driven approaches where they create clearer boundaries and more reusable capabilities.
  • Help define clear contracts and interfaces between platform capabilities and their consumers.
  • Ensure roadmap decisions account for technical health, performance, scalability, resiliency, security, observability, and extensibility alongside new functionality.
  • Help guide the transition from legacy commerce capabilities to next-generation services while balancing modernization with ongoing needs.
  • Evaluate technology and vendor capabilities based on their ability to support the broader platform strategy rather than individual feature requirements alone.
  • Lead the dependency picture for the products and capabilities you manage.
  • Identify upstream and downstream systems, consumers, and teams affected by product and platform changes.
  • Treat incomplete dependency understanding as a product risk and uncover dependencies during discovery and planning rather than during implementation.
  • Partner with Engineering and Architecture to reduce dependencies structurally, favoring clear contracts, stable interfaces, reusable capabilities, and asynchronous integration.
  • Sequence roadmap projects realistically around dependencies that remain and work with partner teams to establish commitments and shared expectations.
  • Ensure changes account for the broader commerce ecosystem, including product information, inventory, order management, identity, payments, fraud, pricing and promotions, search, analytics, and customer data.
  • Build productive relationships with the teams and partners whose systems your products consume or promote.
  • Be a trusted partner to Engineering Managers, Staff and Principal Engineers, Architects, Product Managers, and partners.
  • Partner with customer-facing Product teams to understand their roadmaps and identify where shared Commerce Platform capabilities can ensure experiences or use cases.
  • Build agreement across partners when priorities, requirements, or desired solutions differ.
  • Provide strategic advice on how platform capabilities can address our challenges, including when the right answer is a trade-off, an alternative solution, or not building something.
  • Communicate product strategy, roadmap, priorities, decisions, risks, and outcomes to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Represent Commerce Platform capabilities in planning and roadmap conversations with senior leaders and partner organizations.
  • Build relationships with external vendors and technology partners and ensure their capabilities and roadmaps align with our platform strategy.
  • Define measurable outcomes and KPIs for platform investments, including adoption, reliability, performance, operational efficiency, developer experience, and growth.
  • Use product, operational, and engineering data to inform prioritization and investment decisions.
  • Measure the adoption and value of platform capabilities rather than treating technical delivery as the definition of success.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce friction for teams consuming Commerce Platform capabilities.
  • Evaluate industry trends, new technologies, and commerce platform capabilities that could influence the roadmap.
  • Explore opportunities to use automation and AI to improve platform capabilities, product discovery, engineering productivity, documentation, and operational processes.
  • Be an agent of change, challenging existing assumptions and processes when better approaches can improve customer, business, or engineering outcomes.
