About The Position

Little Hornet Preschool is seeking a Part-time Lead Teacher to create a positive and nurturing preschool classroom environment. This role involves planning and overseeing all classroom activities, collaborating with a teaching team, and ensuring the safety, health, and holistic development of children. The Lead Teacher will also be responsible for communicating with parents/guardians and ensuring compliance with state regulations for the Great Start Readiness Program and licensed centers. This position requires a commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based educational practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or Elementary Education certified with early childhood endorsement, or willingness to pursue certification
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn the Creative Curriculum or Connect 4 Learning (C4L) Curriculum
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn the My Teaching Strategies Assessment Program
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn the Teachers Learning Together (TLT) concept of professional development
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn Social, Emotional, and Behavioral (SEB) Supports
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn Evidence-based literacy and math practices
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and public relations skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals with a desire to improve educational practices
  • Successfully pass a background check

Responsibilities

  • Plan, create, administer, and oversee all aspects to create a positive preschool classroom environment with assistant teachers
  • Work collaboratively with a teaching team of assistant teachers and professionals across the program and district
  • Provide a supportive and nurturing environment that focuses on the safety and health of children and encourages their physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development
  • Communicate various aspects of the program to parents/guardians through email, newsletters, and other media
  • Comply with state rules and regulations for the Great Start Readiness Program
  • Comply with State of Michigan regulations for a licensed center
  • Maintain yearly professional development as outlined by Childcare licensing
