About The Position

Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, a prominent human services provider founded in 1894, offers a wide range of integrated services including social, educational, health, housing, mental health, nutritional, and fitness programs. Serving nearly 16,000 individuals annually, from ages 3 to 103, on Manhattan's East Side, their clients include older adults, unhoused individuals, children and families, persons with disabilities, and adult learners. Their award-winning Early Childhood Center (ECC) is a model program and lab school for innovation, dedicated to providing the highest quality educational, developmental, and social services to 147 very low-income preschoolers and their families, all eligible for Head Start. The ECC is accredited by NAEYC and is a leader in comprehensive early childhood education and family services. Their holistic approach fosters success in elementary school and life through a seamless, age-appropriate curriculum that enhances language, literacy, motor, social-emotional, and cognitive development, complemented by integrated Family Services. The curriculum incorporates art, music, movement, swimming, farm-to-table meals, and various other components from the settlement house's diverse offerings.

Requirements

  • BA with NYS certification required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Must undergo a pre-employment background check.
  • Must be eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).

Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with Assistant Teacher(s) to assure a developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool children.
  • Develop weekly plans and implement age-appropriate curriculum to nurture and stimulate children’s development.
  • Perform ongoing assessments to differentiate children’s strengths and needs.
  • Promote parent engagement through monthly class meetings, parent conferences, and home visits.
  • Cooperate with providers in adapting individualized curriculum for children with special needs.
