About The Position

Direct learning activities of children according to the general guidelines of developmentally appropriate practice, as well as general supervision and management of the classroom environment.

Requirements

Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Must be capable of bending, crouching or kneeling to children's level
Must be able to reach at and above shoulder height
Must be capable of frequent changes of positions throughout the work shift
Must have a minimum of a CDA certificate or working on one
Must have appropriate patience and demeanor to work with multiple children in one setting

Responsibilities

Familiarize and understand, as well as implement the curriculum through activities based on developmentally appropriate practice
Create and post weekly lesson plans
Participate in staff development activities and planning meetings as required by the Director and licensing
Plan special activities, such as field trips and parties, as appropriate and as they relate to the curriculum
Meet check points for Brigance/know when due.
Keep portfolio information updated in Procare/Brigance.
Assist children with feeding, toileting and personal care (tying shoes, wiping noses, etc.) as appropriate
Ensure the safety and security of children at all times
Be alert and make modifications to daily activities to best meet social, emotional, physical and mental needs of each child
Maintain visual supervision of all children in your care at all times
Understand and implement the outlined center discipline policy
Observe and document significant individual and/or group behavior
Document and suspected child abuse or neglect and alert Director and the childcare hotline
Display a friendly, welcoming attitude toward parents and families
Communicate to parents that you are available daily to respond to questions and concerns
Communicate both positive and troubled behaviors. Not all messages should be about negative things.
Be main communicator on Procare and communicate with assistant on what to input
