About The Position

Responsible for the classroom and all children in the classroom. Curriculum planning, daily activities, and parent communication are daily responsibilities of this job. Licensing, and health requirements, as well as safety compliance are important aspects of this job. Responds to needs, questions, concerns of parents and children in an effective and timely manner. Plans and executes of all classroom and outdoor activities for the group on a daily basis. Prepares lesson plans on a weekly basis with one copy being posted in the classroom for parents, and one copy turned into the Manager. Supervises meal times, toileting procedures, inside and outside activities for children in the classroom. Trains and constructively utilizes the assistant teachers. Attends all staff meetings, parent conferences, and ongoing training. Cleans and organizes the Child Care Center as needed. Responsible for the health, welfare, and safety of children in assigned group. Plans and executes a developmentally appropriate program balanced within child developmental principles.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is required, and the ability and commitment to attain CDA within two years of hire; or 12 semester hours, 18 CEU's or a combination to equal 180 clock hours with 1,920 hours of childcare/teaching experience.
• Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a child-related field.
• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a child-related field.
• CDA Certificate with 480 hours of childcare/teaching experience.
• Experience in teaching, writing lesson plans and managing a classroom is required.
• In some instance a combination of semester hours and documented experience teaching will satisfy the state requirements.
• Employees must be vaccinated or have lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella.
• Employees must receive a flu vaccine during the flu season in the year that they are hired and annually thereafter, or receive an approved medical or religious exemption.
