About The Position

Finger Lakes Health is looking for a passionate and experienced Lead Teacher to join the Jim Dooley Early Learning Center! This is a full-time position with a day/eve shift, no weekends, and no holidays. The role offers a $1,000 sign-on bonus for full-time employees and a competitive benefits package. As a Lead Teacher, you will take an active leadership role in creating and implementing an engaging, developmentally appropriate early childhood education program. You will plan and implement curriculum and activities, create a safe and nurturing classroom environment, work closely with Teachers and Teaching Assistants, personalize learning opportunities based on child development, monitor and document progress, mentor teaching assistants, maintain documentation, conduct parent/teacher conferences, collaborate with other Lead Teachers, facilitate staff meetings and training, and participate in center-wide quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field OR Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
  • 3 years of full-time classroom teaching experience
  • Program-specific experience required for Infant & Toddler Lead Teacher positions
  • Ability to develop and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum
  • Ability to support children's social, emotional, cognitive, and developmental growth
  • Ability to establish positive and trusting relationships with children and families
  • Ability to use developmental assessments to track progress and evaluate program goals
  • Ability to mentor and support other members of the teaching team
  • Ability to communicate effectively with parents, coworkers, and leadership
  • Ability to solve problems effectively and work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain a professional, respectful, and courteous approach with children, families, and colleagues

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, learner-centered curriculum and activities
  • Create a safe, healthy, and nurturing classroom environment
  • Work closely with Teachers and Teaching Assistants to provide high-quality care and education
  • Use knowledge of each child's interests, skills, relationships, and developmental needs to personalize learning opportunities
  • Monitor and document children's developmental progress using appropriate assessment tools
  • Mentor and guide Teaching Assistants while helping develop plans for their professional growth and success
  • Maintain required classroom documentation and participate in meetings
  • Conduct parent/teacher conferences and provide support to families
  • Collaborate with other Lead Teachers to evaluate and improve the Center's educational programs
  • Facilitate staff meetings and training sessions
  • Participate in center-wide quality improvement initiatives
