About The Position

Designs, implements, and reviews age-appropriate curriculum, manages classroom activities and interactions, supervises assistant teachers, students and volunteers while maintaining a safe and healthy environment. Develops age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for young children. Monitors and supervises children to ensure their safety and well-being. Communicates effectively with parents regarding children's progress and behavior. Implements positive discipline techniques to encourage good behavior. Observes and assesses children's development and growth. Collaborates with other teachers and staff to create a nurturing learning environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • 24 annual hours of Ohio-Approved Professional Development tracked by department, unless Associate's Degree or CDA certification is maintained, required.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with children, families, and other professionals.
  • Ability to supervise and direct Assistant Teachers and students.
  • Flexibility and ability to handle multiple tasks and change priorities.
  • Ability to create a positive atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Able to multi-task within a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to sit (on floor) in close proximity to children during play and activity periods. Constantly
  • Ability to lift a child into a crib and place them in it safely. Constantly
  • Ability to actively supervise children during gross motor play. Constantly
  • Ability to move rapidly in potentially unsafe physical situations: example: a child falling off the climber. Constantly
  • Ability to bend over quickly to pick up children by their torso, not by their arms. Constantly

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, preferred.
  • Active Child Development Associate (CDA) certification within one year of hire, preferred.
  • Experience in an early childhood education program, preferred.
