About The Position
SANY’s Citizenship & Science Academy of Syracuse Charter Elementary School is hiring a Lead Elementary Teacher for grades K–5 for the 2026–2027 academic year in Syracuse, New York. The school welcomes both novice and experienced teachers. New York State certification is required. The role focuses on delivering engaging instruction aligned with the charter’s curriculum, using student data to guide learning, preparing students for relevant standardized tests, and contributing to a supportive and accountable school community. Teachers collaborate with staff on instructional goals, objectives, and methods. The school offers coaches and mentors in every building, professional development opportunities, and regular integration of classroom technology. Compensation is competitive and based on the pay scale, experience, and education. The position includes an excellent benefits package and access to the New York State Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or a 403(b) employer match.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- New York State certification required.
- Fingerprint clearance through the New York State Department of Education.
- Excellent content knowledge and pedagogy.
- Strong classroom management.
- Comfort with using data and analytics to guide instruction and promote learning.
- Growth mindset and flexibility in response to change.
- Intrinsic motivation and compassion.
- Strong conviction that all students can succeed.
- Ability to receive feedback well and implement it immediately.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Prior teaching experience preferred; novice teachers are also encouraged to apply.
- Experience with diverse student populations or in an urban setting is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Provide engaging lesson plans that conform to the charter’s curriculum.
- Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods in accordance with charter requirements.
- Prepare students for standardized tests relevant to the content area.
- Use data and analytics to help drive instruction and promote learning.
- Apply strong classroom management.
- Accept feedback and accountability and implement feedback promptly.
