About The Position

The Preschool Lead Teacher is to create and maintain an early learning environment that meets the individual needs of the holistic child. This role involves following program policies, creating and implementing a weekly curriculum, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for young children.

Requirements

  • TB Test
  • Merit background check and finger print if applicable
  • Current Food Handlers Permit
  • Current CPR, First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogens certified
  • Maintains a current STARS/MERIT training (10 hrs.) annually
  • Registered in MERIT
  • Safe Sleep certification
  • Child Care Basics (30 hrs.)

Nice To Haves

  • Some ECE credits and past experience.
  • Some knowledge.
  • Experience working with children ages 3-5 years in a child care setting.
  • AA/BA degree in ECE or current CDA
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Lead Teacher in a child care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly record and develop observations for preschoolers.
  • Show empathy towards the needs of the individual child.
  • Create an inviting learning environment inside and outside garden areas.
  • Maintain a sanitized, clean, healthy, and safe environment indoors as well as outdoors.
  • Meet the needs of the preschoolers: diaper changes (if applicable), meals, and nap time/down time requirements.
  • Be prepared for the day’s activities and handle transitions well.
  • Be tactful with negative information.
  • Show respect for those from diverse backgrounds and maintain confidentiality.
  • Seek partnership with parents and involve them in center activities and events.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team, be flexible about assigned duties, strive to assume a fair share of work, communicate directly and avoid gossip.
  • Enjoy and assist in maintaining of school, gardens and orchard areas (painting, gardening & annual maintenance of school grounds).
  • Take job seriously, seek skill improvement, use time management wisely, and behave in an ethical manner.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the ECE director, (including maintaining the school grounds within the garden and orchard areas).
