About The Position

Plans and implements learning experiences that advance the development of the whole child. Establishes and maintains a safe, healthy learning environment using high quality learning experiences to advance the development of the whole child in partnership with families. Complies with all Head Start Performance Standards, Colorado Department of Human Services licensing requirements, and the Colorado Quality Standards for Early Childhood Care and Education Services. Implements a balance of group and individualized experiences to promote the development of school readiness skills as defined by CPCD’s School Readiness Action Plan. Provides daily supervision for assigned Teacher Assistants.

Requirements

  • Current Colorado Department of Human Services Director Qualification (DQ).
  • Experience teaching in the early childhood education field including experience in planning and implementing curriculum, using assessments, and providing effective and nurturing teacher-child interactions.
  • All Early Head Start teachers must meet the above requirements and be trained in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development.
  • Successful completion of a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination, TB test, back-ground screen and drug test and thereafter as required.
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 40 pounds.
  • First Aid and infant, child & adult CPR, and medication administration certification within 90-days of employment and maintain as required.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination, TB test, drug test (including marijuana), and background check in accordance with the Office of Head Start Performance Standards and Childcare Licensing. (Physical examination and TB test thereafter as required).
  • Must have access to reliable transportation and if using a personal vehicle must maintain minimum liability insurance as determined by the State of Colorado.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in ECE or related field and Colorado Department of Human Services Director Qualified. If a candidate is not currently Director Qualified, they must agree to obtain this certificate and begin the process to obtain immediately.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
