About The Position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Systems Operations Engineer in Technology as part of Commercial and Corporate & Investment Banking Technology (CCIBT), Platform Strategy and Transformation group. This person will help to triage, localize and automate troubleshooting of complex business transactions. This exciting role in CCIBT falls in our Platform Management team where the selected seasoned engineer will analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues in a highly visible distributed middleware platform based in Java, J2EE and .NET. This team supports applications hosted in a wide variety of technology stacks, including Azure, PCF, Kubernetes, Virtual Machines, and Citrix systems. As a senior resource, you will partner with teams, vendors, internal and external business partners to evaluate and recommend enhancements or changes to existing processes to support the ever-changing technology environment. Including supporting Internal and external hosted applications providing support to 73k internal users, 18k external users and 1.4k external clients in North America, APAC and EMEA regions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and continuously improving monitoring solutions for applications built on Java or .NET platforms, with a focus on proactive issue detection and system reliability
  • 2+ years of experience supporting production environments, leading incident response efforts, and effectively communicating status, impact, and resolution to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • 2+ years of experience driving cross-functional problem management, partnering with application development, product teams, infrastructure, and platform engineering to resolve root causes and prevent recurrence
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence small teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement
  • 5+ years of experience in application production support, with a strong focus on customer impact and service reliability
  • 1+ year of SPLOC experience or equivalent APM tool
  • 1+ year of experience with Splunk or similar tools, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Familiarity with AI-driven or agentic operations, with an interest in leveraging automation to reduce toil and improve outcomes
  • Experience working in fast-paced operations environments with a focus on prioritization, adaptability, and resilience
  • Understanding of risk and regulatory compliance, with a commitment to operating responsibly and with attention to detail
  • Experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) or similar platforms
  • Strong ability to build relationships across all organizational levels, influencing outcomes through communication and collaboration
  • Working knowledge of system monitoring, automation, and network scripting, with a mindset toward continuous improvement and innovation
  • Proven ability to mentor, coach, and uplift team members, contributing to team growth and knowledge sharing
  • Experience with application servers (Apache Tomcat, Apache HTTP, IBM Liberty, WebLogic, etc.) in UNIX/Linux environments
  • Demonstrated success using monitoring tools to proactively prevent issues and improve system stability
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex technical concepts
  • Experience leading and coordinating major incident response, maintaining composure and clarity under pressure

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, broad impact initiatives including provision of high-level systems consultation for the technology teams
  • Work as key participant in large scale planning of computer systems and network infrastructure for Systems Operations functional area
  • Review and analyze complex technical challenges, as well as escalated support issues related to core business solutions that require in depth evaluation of multiple factors, such as alternatives, enhancements, periodic systems reviews, or improvements to existing systems
  • Make decisions on technical changes and enhancements
  • Consult with engineering team on change design requiring solid understanding of technical process controls or standards that influence and drive new initiatives
  • Collaborate and consult with technical peers, colleagues, and mid to more experienced level managers to resolve systems support issues and achieve goals
