About The Position

The MOSSAIC program is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a background in orbital mechanics, space systems, space operations, integration & test experience and team management. The Lead Systems Engineer provides advanced technical leadership in space operations including tactics development, planning, exercises, and lifecycle support of complex systems with an emphasis on protecting and defending space assets. This role applies space operations principles across the space enterprise including partners from the IC. The engineer works independently on complex assignments, leads cross-functional technical efforts, and supports program execution from concept development through production and sustainment. The position requires strong collaboration with hardware, software, mechanical, test, quality, and management of teams to ensure the delivered solution meets performance, cost, schedule, and compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information

Nice To Haves

  • STK Certification and/or Astrogator knowledge.
  • Familiarity with DoD/NRO spacecraft and missions.
  • Prior experience supporting Joint Operations including Joint Pubs 3-14 & 5.0.
  • Prior space operations lead responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of SAP/STO mission areas.
  • Space Domain Awareness experience.
  • Prior support to Tier-1 military exercises.
  • Experience applying systems engineering processes across the product lifecycle.
  • Experience working in cross-functional engineering teams on complex technical programs.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues with limited oversight.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work full time at a customer site in Colorado Springs.
  • Coordinate with geographically separated operators, creating synergy between various commands and organizations.
  • Certify as BSA crew member and periodically work crew shifts that may include holidays, nights, and weekends.
  • Partner with members of the IC in support of the Protect and Defend mission.
  • Support the development of CONOPS, procedures and the operational checkout of new systems and applications.
  • Participate in customer planning, technical exchange, and coordination meetings, as well as Engineering Review Boards.
  • Support the PMO with technical inputs on contract performance.
  • Participate in and provide site specific information for the project readiness review cycle, develop and conduct design reviews, and provide implementation coordination with affected users.
