Leidos’ Defense Sector – Directed Energy Division in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer for Integration and Test to join our team of talented scientists, engineers, and program staff focused on advancing Directed Energy systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with 8+ years of professional experience; or a master’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with 6+ years of professional experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience integrating hardware.
  • Experience with coordinating schedule with subcontractors and USG partners.
  • Current DoW Secret clearance with ability to move to Top Secret.
  • Experience leading and directing activities of a team
  • Experience with workload, staffing, and personnel management
  • Strong communication skills to interface with internal and external customers
  • Experience with complex, large systems.
  • Experience with conducting technical reviews with a government agency / customer
  • Travel (up to 10%) for test events and technical interchange meetings to various test locations or collaborator performance sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference shown to candidates who possess a Bachelors or Master of Science in System Engineering from an ABET-accredited university with direct systems engineering experience.
  • Experience with CAMEO for MBSE.
  • The successful candidate will possess leadership skills and team collaboration experience
  • Highly organized, demonstrating the ability to work independently at times due to fast-paced and highly productive work environment
  • Experience with Direct Energy technology such as High-Power Microwaves and Lasers

Responsibilities

  • Lead a program team involved with design, development, integration, and test of novel Direct Energy systems.
  • Planning, tracking, and execution of complex tasking within technical, schedule, and budget constraints for the integration of Directed Energy Systems.
  • Interface with the customer as part of the Program Management team.
  • Be a critical member of proposal teams responsible for follow-on business and on contract growth.
  • Manage team of engineers and technicians for the integration, test, demonstration, and deployment of large Directed Energy Systems.
  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of hardware and software integration efforts within a secure IT environment.
  • Collaborate with software, mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering teams to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex system-level issues.
  • Analyze integration and test results, identify root causes, and provide detailed technical documentation supporting issue resolution.
  • Coordinate with systems engineering team to design tests which provide requirement verification and develop test reports for verification artifacts.
  • Support the development and updating of systems engineering documentation, such as requirements verification matrices and architectural design documents using MSBE.
  • Manage cost, schedule, workload for assigned team members and cost accounts.
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of hardware and software integration efforts.
  • Mentor junior engineers for career growth and opportunities.
  • Track and report execution status, generating detailed reports and presentation packages for stakeholders and clients.
  • Manage and track schedules, risks, opportunities, defects, change requests, and action items.
  • Facilitate planning meetings, peer reviews, and customer-facing sessions to aligned to objectives and schedules.
  • Collaborate with developers, integrators, and schedulers to ensure schedules are aligned with project timelines.
  • Mentor and train team members on tools, processes, and applications.
