About The Position

Raytheon’s Advanced Programs team is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer with experience in Electronic Warfare (EW) to support the development of next generation EW capabilities. In this role, you will lead and coordinate the design, development, and implementation of EW systems, working closely with cross‑functional engineering teams throughout the full lifecycle. This is a full‑time, on-site position located in Goleta, California.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline (preferably Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Physics) and 10+ years of relevant systems engineering experience in EW/Radar system development, including requirements decomposition, architecture definition, system level integration & verification planning
  • Experience developing systems engineering artifacts such as requirements, specifications, interface control documents (ICDs), and verification/validation (V&V) plans
  • Experience supporting system level technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) and coordinating across multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

  • Advanced EW/Radar architecture, algorithms, or signal‑processing methods
  • Experience analyzing and modeling EW/Radar system performance, including RF chain and end‑to‑end behavior
  • Radar performance analysis tools or model development (e.g., MATLAB, algorithm prototyping)
  • AI/ML techniques applied to signal processing or algorithm enhancement
  • Knowledge of millimeter‑wave and microwave RF at the module or system level
  • Experience defining system architectures, performance budgets, and interface definitions (RF, digital, mixed‑signal)

  • Experience developing or interpreting security and cybersecurity requirements relevant to government systems

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary Systems Engineering focal point for the program
  • Lead the definition, development, and implementation of system architectures, algorithms, and interfaces for EW/Radar capabilities.
  • Manage configuration process, performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
  • Partner with the Program Chief Engineer in ensuring the engineering team aligns to cost/schedule
  • Provide technical directions to multi-disciplinary program teams
  • Implement and ensure adherence to systems engineering processes throughout the program lifecycle
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of technical documentation, including system specifications, design documents, and test plans
  • Coordinate system engineering activities, including requirements analysis, system design, integration, and testing
  • Conduct system level trade studies and performance analysis
  • Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and customer presentations
  • Support program management with technical risk assessments and mitigation strategies
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Performs architectural exploration
  • Decomposes customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements and generates verification criteria and plans for the requirements
