About The Position

Goodwill of the Heartland is seeking a Lead Supported Community Living Specialist for their Iowa City Office. This leadership role supports the mission of Goodwill by assisting individuals with barriers to independence in developing personalized goals and implementing them in their day-to-day lives to foster their independence and community integration. The position involves supervising a team of direct support professionals, managing a caseload of participants, creating weekly schedules, managing the department budget, and cultivating relationships with referral sources and funders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, nursing, rehabilitation, or related field required.
  • One year of work experience in social work, rehabilitation, case management, or related field required.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance.
  • Successful completion of a criminal, DHS, and vehicle background check.
  • 18 years of age or older.

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for professional staff service provision that results in attainment of positive outcomes/benefits by persons receiving services.
  • Enlist and develop qualified staff.
  • Develop and implement short and long range goals for the SCL Program.
  • Assist with the development of departmental budgets.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with referral agencies and funders.
  • Maintain wait list.
  • Identify and maintain current information about community resources that may benefit program participants.
  • Identify treatment and service needs of each individual served.
  • Develop treatment plan.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress of the treatment plan, assisting and facilitating as appropriate, overseeing caseload of 20-25 clients.
  • Assist with multi-disciplinary college and university student training.
  • Monitor and control expenses and ensure efficiency in rehabilitation services, including billable hours and client funding.
  • Maintain current and accurate case notes, ISP’s and progress notes.
  • Provide transportation to participants as needed.
  • Assess safety needs of program participants, developing and implementing safety plans.
