This role involves monitoring and supporting Nomura's real-time low latency trading environment, including FPGA-based systems, DMA, Algorithmic and Smart Order Routing platforms. The position requires support of high frequency co-located trading environments, with a specialized focus on the full architecture stack including FPGA cards, feed handlers, and exchange connectivity. The individual will perform pcap file analysis to troubleshoot latency issues and validate message flows, conduct daily health checks on critical systems, and check automation and configurations of real-time monitoring solutions. A key responsibility is to provide rapid response and resolution to incidents affecting the production trading systems. The role utilizes latency monitoring tools (Corvil/Pico) to identify, measure, and resolve performance issues, and liaises between clients, front-office, and development teams for quick and effective escalation and resolution. The individual will act as a production change gatekeeper, managing and deploying changes, including configuration and software release. Analysis of logs and monitoring tools is required to identify and resolve system issues. Maintaining and developing strong documentation (runbooks, troubleshooting guides, system configuration) is essential. The role also includes implementation and in-depth support of exchange connectivity, bringing up new gateways, connections, and market data feeds/protocols.

Requirements

  • Ability to work well under pressure with a true sense of urgency and excellent teamwork skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to act as a bridge between technology and front office teams.
  • Understanding of high frequency and low latency trading practices, including FPGA-based trading infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting FPGA cards in a production environment (deployment, troubleshooting, monitoring).
  • Strong knowledge of exchange connectivity protocols and market data feeds (ITCH, OUCH, Pillar, ARCA, multicast).
  • Experience with pcap analysis and network packet inspection tools.
  • Familiarity with latency measurement and monitoring tools (Corvil/Pico).
  • Strong understanding of the Americas securities markets and structure, order lifecycle, and FIX protocol.
  • Technically sound experience of Unix environments.
  • Good understanding of networking principles.
  • 3+ years relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in scripting and automation (preferably Shell and Python).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, Elastic).
  • Exposure to OMS and EMS platforms.
