About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Lead Substation Structural Engineer to support its Energy Practice’s Power Delivery Initiative. The role may be performed remotely or from one of several AECOM Energy offices in the United States. The team provides civil and structural engineering services for electrical transmission and distribution systems, including overhead and underground power systems and substations. The position calls for deep substation-design experience and familiarity with civil and structural design for heavy industrial clients. The engineer will lead and support engineering and design for substation, switchyard, and other electrical infrastructure projects, including greenfield and brownfield work. The role includes structural steel and concrete calculations and analytical modeling; coordinating civil/structural workloads, schedules, and budgets; supporting proposals and business development; leading the civil/structural design team; collaborating across disciplines on arrangements and procurement packages; maintaining group standards; preparing technical reports, presentations, specifications, and contract documents; and checking peer work. Occasional travel to AECOM offices and client sites is required. AECOM offers comprehensive benefits, which may vary depending on employment status. The position is remote, though new hires must attend in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office. Relocation and sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization are not available. AECOM intends to fill this current vacancy by February 4, 2027.
