About The Position

This is a lead design engineering position in structural engineering, supporting projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades and modifications to nuclear power plants. The role guides and mentors a team of structural engineers, interfaces with other engineering disciplines, and works directly with clients. It applies knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design across a range of client projects. The engineer prepares, reviews, and provides guidance on design calculations; develops specifications; and works with designers on drawing development. The position also prepares, reviews, or guides structural analysis and design for steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations. Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews, and to plant sites for construction coordination and field verification, may be required. The position follows a hybrid schedule, with three days in the Reading, Pennsylvania office and two days remote. Sargent & Lundy's Nuclear Power Group works on nuclear engineering, design, and licensing, including small modular reactors, advanced reactor technology, reactor restarts, existing plant life extensions and modernization, coal-to-nuclear initiatives, and international new-build projects.
