About The Position

National Grid is hiring a Lead Data Analyst for their Customer organization supporting Kraken. This role will initially be fully in-office for 6 months, transitioning to a hybrid model (3-4 days in office). National Grid delivers safe and secure energy and is focused on anticipating customer needs, reducing energy delivery costs, and pioneering flexible energy systems. The company is transforming how it serves customers, operates, and leverages data. This position will be critical in building the analytics foundation for this transformation, partnering with leaders to define success metrics, develop performance insights, and influence business decisions. The role involves designing future-state analytics capabilities, establishing performance measurement frameworks, uncovering insights from complex data, and driving operational excellence. The ideal candidate possesses advanced analytical expertise, strong business acumen, problem-solving skills, and the ability to influence through data storytelling.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in reporting, analytics, business intelligence, performance management, data strategy, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience building reporting and analytics capabilities in a complex operational environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with Power BI, SQL, Excel, relational databases, and data visualization techniques.
  • Must have the ability to work without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting large-scale business transformation, digital transformation, or operational modernization initiatives.
  • Experience with Alteryx, Snowflake, Databricks, Power Platform, or similar modern analytics technologies.
  • Experience in customer operations, utility operations, energy, digital customer experience, or service organizations.
  • Experience implementing self-service analytics and reporting capabilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Data Science, Business, Information Systems, Statistics, Economics, or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Build scalable reporting and analytics capabilities to support the evolving operating model.
  • Establish meaningful KPIs and performance frameworks for actionable business insights.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer experience, operational performance, efficiency, and business outcomes through data-driven recommendations.
  • Develop trusted relationships with leadership teams and serve as an advisor for business performance insights.
  • Transform reporting from retrospective scorekeeping to proactive decision support.
  • Drive automation, self-service analytics, and data accessibility.
  • Lead the development of a modern reporting and analytics strategy.
  • Establish KPI hierarchies and executive scorecards aligned to business outcomes.
  • Design scalable analytics solutions for current and future needs.
  • Challenge existing reporting methodologies and recommend innovative approaches.
  • Identify opportunities to automate, simplify, and modernize reporting processes while improving data quality and consistency.
  • Move beyond descriptive reporting to identify root causes, predict trends, and recommend actions.
  • Conduct exploratory analysis to uncover opportunities, risks, and inefficiencies.
  • Use advanced analytics techniques to evaluate business scenarios, forecast outcomes, and support strategic decision making.
  • Serve as a thought partner to leadership by providing objective, data-driven perspectives.
  • Establish trusted and scalable reporting governance practices.
  • Lead efforts to improve data quality, accessibility, and reliability.
  • Drive adoption of best practices in analytics, measurement, and performance reporting.
