About The Position

This position is responsible for the overall performance in their respective cell. This includes running specific laboratory equipment and testing samples daily that requires a specialized knowledge of processes. Responsibilities also include minor lab equipment maintenance and repair, supervision of lab employees in their assigned cell, movement of employees to facilitate proper workflow, managing cell tray flow, promoting a lean environment and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Work in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to petroleum products, fumes, odors, mists and dusts
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous laboratory experience or ability to effectively run a minimum of four routine tests.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage staff or 1-year supervisory experience
  • Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE.
  • It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your Manager.
  • To ensure safety throughout the facility, all employees are required to maintain up to date HAZMAT, OSHA, RCRA, Methylene Chloride, and General Laboratory Safety training as defined within the POLARIS Quality System.

Responsibilities

  • Help facilitate a “team environment”, implement and maintain 5S practices in cell
  • Assists with the implementation of Lean Production goals and strategies for improving the operations and processes within the laboratory
  • Assist in the review of process improvements suggestion made by lab staff
  • Assigns and approves cell overtime as needed
  • Assists supervisor in writing and delivering scorecards
  • Assists supervisor in tracking each employee’s production
  • Approves EOS 5S Checklist at each station in Cell
  • Assists in approval of QC Sheets at EOS
  • Manages team’s production goals
  • Train new and existing lab personnel
  • Assist technicians in Inspecting, maintaining, and repairing laboratory equipment.
  • Direct and plan lab employee workflow
  • Direct and manage tray flow
  • Monitor and facilitate daily production
  • Perform daily routine lab analysis
  • Assist technicians in troubleshooting and basic maintenance on laboratory equipment
  • Update daily production visual boards in cell
  • Direct and manage tray flow
  • Other duties as assigned by management
