About The Position

Wells Fargo Bank N.A. seeks a Lead Specialty Software Engineer in Columbus, OH. This role is part of our check modernization initiative. The engineer will modernize, consolidate, and replatform check processing applications to streamline technology and deliver continuous improvements in areas including image capture, check clearing and settlements, exceptions/corrections, and image archive. This includes internalizing 3rd party image software using Cloud platforms, Object Store, Workflow engine, Data stream, and APIs. The role involves acting as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups. The engineer will lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking. This position requires translating advanced technology experience, in-depth knowledge of the organization's tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions. The role provides vision, direction, and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions. Maintaining knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommending innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization is also key. The engineer will strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership. Telecommuting is permitted up to 2 days a week. The position must appear in person to the work address listed.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or related technical field plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or in a related position involving Specialty Software Engineering experience.
5 years of application development and implementation experience.
5 years Java/J2EE Web Application Development, Spring core, Web Services (REST, SOAP etc.), microservices development.
Experience with check processing payments landscape.
Hands on experience in delivering high value projects in Agile (SCRUM) methodology preferably using JIRA tool.
Experience with Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
Experience with Object Store technologies (e.g., Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage).
Experience with Workflow engines (e.g., Camunda, Apache Airflow).
Experience with Data streaming technologies (e.g., Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis).
