About The Position

Gold Fields is seeking a Lead Specialist Occupational Health to join the Sustainable Development team, supporting the Australian business while contributing to broader global health initiatives across a leading international mining organisation. Reporting to the Senior Manager Occupational Health based in South Africa, this role offers the opportunity to influence and strengthen occupational health outcomes across a complex operational environment, while working within a collaborative and globally connected functional operating model. This role will play an important part in supporting a culture grounded in care, accountability, and continuous improvement, ensuring occupational health risks are effectively managed while helping leaders and teams create safe, healthy, and sustainable workplaces. Working closely with site and corporate stakeholders, you will provide technical leadership across occupational health, hygiene, wellbeing, governance and assurance, while also delivering hands‑on site support, including on-site assessments, coaching, incident response and implementation assistance. The role will focus on strengthening health risk management programs, improving systems and reporting, and supporting consistent standards and capability across the Australian operations. You will thrive in a role that combines technical expertise with collaboration and influence, partnering across functions to deliver practical outcomes that support both people and operational performance.

Requirements

  • Experienced occupational health professional.
  • Strong capability across health risk management, occupational hygiene, governance, and assurance within mining, heavy industry, or similarly complex environments.
  • Practical and collaborative approach.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Genuine passion for supporting workforce health and wellbeing.
  • Relevant qualifications in Occupational Health, Occupational Hygiene, Health Sciences, or a related discipline.

  • Knowledge of occupational health management systems and assurance frameworks.
