About The Position

The Role As a CT Lead you will be responsible for leading a team to purchase all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services. The role requires the candidate to lead their team to develop a commodity strategy and to actively coach and support team members with the sourcing process and supplier negotiations. You will be responsible for developing a plan to achieve global and regional material budget execution for your Creativity Team. The role requires highly proficient written and oral communication skills that will allow you to develop a team to meet shared goals and work effectively with cross functional partners (engineering, supply chain and program teams). You will also be required to develop, manage and communicate to leadership both the short- and long-term strategies for the CT. This role will require you to work collaboratively with your Global Commodity Manager to lead a team of GSM and Senior GSMs. Work is of a difficult nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, strategy, negotiations and a high level of independent judgment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years relevant work experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, logistics or product development (any internship or co-op experience will not be considered)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Finance, related field
  • Experience with commodities
  • Cost analysis or manufacturing experience
  • Automotive industry experience
  • Knowledge of Capacity and Materials Management
  • Capable of drawing conclusions from complex data, market trends and the regulatory environment
  • Ability to understand basic engineering documents and technical drivers for the applicable commodities
  • Knowledge of contract law as it applies to the purchasing processes
  • Experience with strategy development and budget management

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a robust commodity strategy based on market and technology trends.
  • Maintain sourcing pipeline and Business Over Time, benchmarking data, CT strategy presentations, global budget and on-time metrics for the entire CT
  • Manage global Creativity Team and ECT meetings with support and collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Develop and execute a business plan to meet material performance goals
  • Support global counterparts to address operational issues and align the global strategy for future programs and supplier management
  • Keep abreast of trends that impact the CT—be it market, technology or changes in the supply base
  • Ensure adherence to corporate and unit purchasing and accounting practices and procedures for yourself and the larger team
  • Utilize the GPSC sourcing process to manage sourcing packages (RFQ, Quote Analysis and Source Selection) and to establish a capable/competitive global supply base
  • Analyze and apply appropriate tools, i.e., benchmarking, global competitive sourcing, value chain analysis, supplier negotiations, engineering change cost containment, technical cost reduction, part/system reuse, etc.
