This role involves developing Architecture Blueprints, Application Roadmaps, and providing technical leadership for strategic and transformative programs within Regulatory Strategy and Delivery (RS&D). The regulatory architect will integrate RBC architecture guidance and reuse approaches into strategic platform architectures, programs, and projects supporting government regulations and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field (e.g., engineering, physics, or mathematics), or equivalent practical experience.
  • Solid experience with a variety of modern technologies/approaches including event-based architecture, cloud-based deployments, REST/API first applications.
  • Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills along with strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to determine the information and communication needs of stakeholders and projects.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and time management capabilities.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical applications in production.
  • Designing as a solution architect in large or complex programs, including system and application designs, software and technical architecture, in accordance with strategies and objectives.
  • Providing expertise on a variety of issues in software designs, system architecture, and solution-oriented technologies.
  • Communicating with clients, analyzing business requirements and processes, making recommendations, and leading in future planning.
  • Overseeing solution architecture project outcomes, including hardware and software design; ensuring that each project phase meets overall requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Canada regulations and legislations for financial institutions.
  • Extensive experience in APM, logging and cache technologies, e.g., Dynatrace, Splunk/ELK, Redis, etc.
  • Experience in Azure/AWS/GCP cloud data platform technologies, and container management platforms, e.g., Openshift.
  • Knowledge of Encryption/Decryption Standards.
  • Experienced in domain-driven-design and data modelling.
  • Exposure to AI / ML tools and concepts.
  • Ability to facilitate and influence key decision makers.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills to work across functions and businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with RS&D business leaders to determine how to best apply technology (e.g., scalable domain-driven solutions, operational reporting, resiliency, SRE practices) to meet the objectives of regulatory initiatives.
  • Provide architectural strategic thinking, technology solutions, and input into roadmaps to drive delivery.
  • Ensure architectural compliance of solutions and introduce recommendations for changes to reference model(s) when needed.
  • Maintain a plan to address gaps between current and target state architectures.
  • Participate in 'reuse, buy and build' decisions.
  • Understand potential impacts of proposed solutions on other systems, processes, and/or projects.
  • Articulate and document technology solution design, considering trade-offs, costs, and benefits.
  • Develop ongoing knowledge of current and emerging technologies.
  • Identify new and emerging solutions, assess relevance and potential value to the organization, and present findings to teammates and management.
  • Participate in the day-to-day execution of the architecture strategy.
  • Develop blueprints and conduct design reviews to ensure architectural compliance of solutions.
  • Work across multiple projects and systems to develop, communicate, and mentor others on solution design, implementation, operational patterns, and best practices.
