About The Position

We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join our team at Optum Services Inc. In this role, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of high-quality software components, collaborating with various stakeholders including strategic products, UAT, support, and customers. You will also be involved in hiring and retaining talented software engineers, mentoring them for success, and working with cross-functional teams to implement new technologies while ensuring scalability, maintainability, and adherence to best practices. Your responsibilities will include monitoring engineering excellence, estimating features, planning budgets and resources, tracking project statuses, and breaking down projects into manageable tasks. You will also conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and oversee a team of software engineers, ensuring deliverables are met and team members are contributing effectively. Additionally, you will mentor and develop subordinates for future roles and contribute to architectural designs and software feedback. This position offers telecommuting flexibility from anywhere in the U.S. and involves supervising direct reports.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a technology related occupation.
  • 3 years of experience in JavaScript, AngularJS, Angular and React.
  • 3 years of experience in SQL/PLSQL and SQL Server.
  • 3 years of experience in Designing and developing applications consuming Microsoft Rules Engine.
  • 3 years of experience in Azure components including Azure services, Function apps, Azure storage, Azure Redis cache, Azure containers, Azure SQL DB, Cosmos DB and Notification Hubs.
  • 3 years of experience in Azure DevOps for CI/CD.
  • 3 years of experience in tracking projects and statuses using Rally.
  • 3 years of experience with HL7 messages for healthcare application integrations.
  • 3 years of experience in C# and .Net Core.
  • 3 years of experience in Splunk capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Development and delivery of software components with high quality for customers with great collaboration with multiple stakeholders like strategic products, UAT, support and customers.
  • Hiring, and retaining talented software engineers by identifying right talent for the portfolio and mentoring them to onboard and be successful.
  • Working with cross-functional teams for implementation of the new technologies and ensuring scalability, maintainability, and adherence to best practices.
  • Monitoring and tracking engineering excellence and objectives for continuous improvement.
  • Estimating strategic features and enhancements and planning for budget and resource plannings.
  • Tracking multiple projects statuses across different teams and making the deliverables without any hinderances.
  • Break down projects into manageable tasks, assign them effectively to different teams, and track the progress of the projects.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify areas for improvement personally and professionally, ensuring team members are meeting their goals and contributing effectively.
  • Oversee a team of software engineers, ensure that deliverables are met.
  • Mentor, develop subordinates for future roles and responsibilities.
  • Contribute to architectural designs and also provide feedback on software design for projects.
  • Supervise direct reports.
