About The Position

Multiple positions available. Coordinate with business and product teams to establish requirements of cross-border money transfer eco system. Assess business needs while providing creative and effective solutions in conformance to emerging technology standards. Design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software systems throughout all phases of the software development process. Apply Agile Methodology daily and follow Definition of Done (DOD) process for better quality by maintaining 80% of unit test coverage and 70% integration overage. Estimate engineering effort, plan implementation, and roll out applications with cross-functional impacts. Develop high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code adhering to established coding standards and best practices. Actively participate in peer code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to design principles and quality guidelines. Apply secure coding principles and practices throughout the development lifecycle to mitigate security vulnerabilities. Demonstrate a strong understanding of software design patterns and principles to create efficient and resilient solutions. Proactively identify and address technical debt to maintain a healthy codebase & systems. Interface and collaborate with project management, engineering leadership, release management, and the teams across geographically distributed development centers to deliver quality product features within a given schedule. Telecommuting may be permitted up to 2 days per week. When not telecommuting, must report to Western Union, LLC at 7001 East Belleview Ave, Denver, CO 80237.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Applied Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Application, Electronic Engineering, or a related field, plus 7 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or any occupation/job title/position implementing backend solutions. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree plus 7 years of experience, the employer will accept a Master's degree or U.S. equivalent in Applied Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Application, Electronic Engineering, or related field, plus 5 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or any occupation/job title/position implementing backend solutions.
  • 5 years of professional experience utilizing computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), and Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOA/D)
  • 5 years of professional experience utilizing Modern Programming Languages (including Java or Python) and design patterns
  • 5 years of professional experience utilizing HTTP, XML, and JSON
  • 4 years of professional experience utilizing Agile Development Methodologies with Test Driven Development (TDD) and CI/CD (Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery)
  • 3 years of professional experience assessing business needs while providing creative and effective solutions in conformance to emerging technology standards
  • 3 years of professional experience utilizing unit testing and mocking frameworks to ensure code quality and maintainability
  • 3 years of professional experience utilizing AWS Cloud Services including EC2, S3, EKS, and API Gateway
  • 3 years of professional experience utilizing Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Hibernate, Kafka, SOAP & RESTful web services
  • 3 years of professional experience developing data-ingesting applications using an industry standard Relational and NoSQL database including Oracle and Redis Cache
