This full-time lead software engineer W2 position will be responsible for the maintenance of the electronic health record platform, capable of managing, maintaining, and enhancing our service offerings to the recovery community and service providers. The software engineer will design, develop and maintain a scalable platform. This position requires the ability to work with a small cross functional team and internal stakeholders. Must be willing and capable of being a solo engineer, owning the whole stack, with a growth mindset and a willingness to create a best-in-class engineering team over time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fully embraced AI as part of their daily workflow — not just as a novelty, but as a core productivity multiplier.
  • Understands both the power, risks and the limitations of AI tools, uses them to move faster and think more clearly, and actively stays current as the landscape evolves.
  • Fluent in using AI-assisted coding, debugging, and research tools, and have a point of view on where the technology is heading.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a regulated industry, with familiarity around HIPAA and other privacy/security frameworks
  • Exposure to data engineering tools like Snowflake or Spark
  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards, including FHIR and HL7
  • Experience implementing or supporting clinical workflows within healthcare software
  • Familiarity with multi-tenant SaaS architectures and infrastructure patterns
  • Understanding of healthcare billing systems and data flows

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain a scalable platform.

  • Ensure incident processes, on-call responsibilities, and post-mortems are followed and improved.

  • Lead security reviews and ensure the team adheres to industry standards like HIPAA and SOC2.
  • Set and communicate expectations for security-first engineering practices.
  • Produce high-quality code and ensure others do too.
  • Maintain a strong code review culture that promotes learning, rigor, and technical excellence.
  • Work across engineering, product, and business teams to align priorities and unblock dependencies.
  • Act as a trusted partner to stakeholders.
  • Set the tone for team culture.
  • Drive accountability, urgency, and a growth mindset.
  • Provide clarity during ambiguity and support team morale and cohesion.
  • Ensure documentation practices are maintained and scaled.
