About The Position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to work on our Cash modernization initiative. This effort will modernize and automate cash processing capabilities. Cash processing will continue to be a valuable product for our small business and corporate customers for the foreseeable future. There is a need to support cash processing modernization to maintain profitability and Wells Fargo’s leadership position in the market by enhancing existing channels and product offerings. In this role, you will: Modernize, consolidate, and re-platform the cash processing applications to streamline technology and deliver continuous improvement in areas including cash management and cash forecasting. Internalize 3rd party image software using Cloud platforms, Object Store, Workflow engine, Data stream and APIs Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommend innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership

Requirements

5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
5+ years of application development and implementation experience
5+ years Java/J2EE Web Application Development, Spring core
5+ years of experience in API - driven development - Experience working with remote data via SOAP, REST and JSON.
1+ years of experience leveraging Generative AI (GenAI) technologies and AI-assisted development platforms such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Devin, Claude, or similar tools
Proven experience working with large systems development capabilities on cloud
Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
Effective communication and influential skills
Strong understanding of the engineering process
Ability to effectively manage large scale projects and enterprise wide systems
Ability to lead the engineering team
Ability to ensure timely and high-quality work

Nice To Haves

Previous experience with cash processing payments landscape
Certification in Google/Azure Cloud, AWS Associate level / Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) developer, Container and Kubernetes experience.
Experience in development of React
Experience in Behavioral Driven Development (BDD) & Domain Driven Development (DDD).
Hands on Experience in using BDD testing frameworks (Cucumber, karate etc)
Strong in OOAD, Multi-threaded application development, design and implementation of web applications, Design Patterns
Experience in Consumer Banking or any complex middleware applications
Experience with Applications Performance Tuning, Scaling, Security, Resiliency Best Practices
Hands on experience in delivering high value projects in Agile (SCRUM) methodology preferably using JIRA tool.
Previous experience working at a financial institution
