About The Position

At Cadence, we hire and develop leaders and innovators who want to make an impact on the world of technology. We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join our R&D team to advance large-scale, high-fidelity Large Eddy Simulation (LES) of multi-regime reactive flows and spray combustion. This position involves developing massively parallel, GPU-accelerated simulation codes, implementing advanced numerical methods rooted in computational geometry, and driving adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) and chemistry acceleration strategies. You will tackle challenging problems at the intersection of combustion physics, mesh generation, and high-performance computing for industrial and scientific applications.

Requirements

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Proven R&D experience developing CFD/LES codes for reactive and/or multiphase flows
  • Strong background in LES combustion modeling, chemical kinetics / mechanism reduction, and numerical analysis
  • Demonstrated experience with adaptive mesh refinement and unstructured-grid methods
  • Proficiency in C/C++, MPI, and GPU programming (CUDA/HIP)
  • Experience profiling and tuning HPC codes on leadership-class systems

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Euler–Lagrange spray modeling, atomization, and combustion validation
  • Publication record in top venues
  • Hands-on experience with Fidelity CharLES
  • Experience with Voronoi meshing

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement LES software for spray combustion and multi-regime reactive flows
  • Implement chemical mechanism reduction and acceleration strategies
  • Advance computational geometry kernels underpinning adaptive unstructured mesh generation
  • Develop dynamic load-balancing schemes for complex multiphysics simulations
  • GPU-ify performance-critical kernels using C/C++, MPI, CUDA/HIP
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate simulation capabilities into broader engineering workflows
