About The Position

Ben Fatto is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join a dynamic team developing its next-generation Global Trade Management application suite. The role involves building complex SaaS systems and contributing across the Agile software development lifecycle, working with a distributed team and collaborating with end users and management. The successful candidate will be passionate about software engineering, prioritize working software and end-user satisfaction, and be comfortable working with ambiguity and using an AI-first approach across SDLC operations.

Requirements

At least 5 years of software development experience in the Global Trade industry, specifically logistics, customs, or supply chain management.
At least 10 years of software development experience across multiple programming languages, with the ability to learn new ones quickly.
Proficiency in .NET development, including C# and VB.NET.
Proficiency in responsive front-end and single-page application development using Angular.
Proficiency developing and consuming REST APIs, including use of documentation tools such as Swagger and Postman.
Experience with SQL and NoSQL data persistence systems, including MSSQL, PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB.
Working knowledge of DataDog for observability, APM, and RUM.
AWS and/or GCP cloud-native development experience.
At least 3 years of hands-on experience with agentic AI-first development tools and processes.
Comfort with iterative, spec-light design, filling in gaps and adapting across sprints based on customer feedback.
Solid understanding of application security from both web service and web application perspectives.
Lead-level understanding of design patterns and N-tier architecture.
Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Experience developing SaaS applications at large or enterprise scale.
Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

Develop software applications using best practices in coordination with a distributed team.
Design and build complex SaaS systems using a mastery-level understanding of software development methodologies.
Drive design decisions, including platform selection, coding standards, and technical implementation.
Contribute across the Agile development process, including design, programming, testing, documentation, QA, and implementation.
Lead code reviews to enforce standards and provide constructive feedback.
Mentor junior team members and support their growth.
Ensure development efforts are appropriately estimated and delivered on time and to quality standards.
Collaborate with internal and external end users on requirements gathering and application design.
Provide technical guidance to management and help shape the technical direction of new product development.
Use innovation time to explore pet projects and areas of special interest.
