About The Position

Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change. Role and Scope of Position: • Will contribute in a multitude of ways, from architecting phenomenal systems, creating, and encouraging good software development practices engineering-wide, driving strategic technical improvements, and mentoring other engineers. A Lead Software Engineer is also responsible for developing, maintaining, and repairing company software for maximum efficiency and usability. • Leads software performance management (measure and improve) • Successfully plan and execute projects involving multiple developers and complex requirements, prioritizing strategically • Contributes to major architectural decisions and reads all project related tech specs, tracking status and considering implications to other systems. • Spurs and facilitates meaningful discussion around complex issues. • Works with key stakeholders effectively to solve problems and make decisions. • Trusted to always share status with all stakeholders, and proactively remedy communication issues. Essential Functions: Implements functional strategy. Establishes operational plans for work area. Recognized master within discipline, having deep knowledge of theory and organizational practices within a specific discipline. Problems faced are typically complex. Develops and implements new products, processes, standards, or operational plans that will have impact on the achievement of results. Significantly improves on existing processes and practices Requires communication with executives in the business. Owns and develops elements of functional strategies and operational goals in area of expertise. Focuses on operational plans with short to medium-term impact on the organization (e.g., 1 – 2 years). Directs activities that have significant impact to the achievement of results for the discipline. Recommends and implements new products, processes, policies, standards, or operating plans in support of the functional strategy. Problems and issues faced are numerous and typically undefined where information is difficult to obtain. Conducts extensive investigation to understand root cause of problems. Problems span a wide range of difficult and unique issues across functions and / or businesses. Responsible for improving upon existing processes and systems using significant conceptualizing, reasoning and interpretation. Solutions are novel and unique, and achieved through research and integration of industry best practice. Communicates with parties within and outside of own function, and typically has responsibilities for communicating with parties external to the organization, (e.g., customers, vendors, etc.). Works to influence others to accept job function’s view / practices and agree / accept new concepts, practices, and approaches. Requires ability to communicate with executive leadership regarding matters of significant importance to the organization. May conduct briefings with senior leaders within the job function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years of related experience
  • Expert or mastery level knowledge of work area, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
  • Deep knowledge of project management.
  • Advanced knowledge of related disciplines within work area and ability to identify links and potential impact on projects, programs or systems.
  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
