About The Position

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our Vega software development team in Belgrade. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth, stability, and continuous improvement of our application. Vega is an AWS based SaaS multi-tenant platform, with multiple cross functional components which combine to deliver unified, connected data experience across a library’s internal and marketing data, to a customer interaction management suite that is available for use by public libraries worldwide! Working with the scientific and academic community, we empower institutions and libraries to drive research excellence and student outcomes by connecting trusted content, deep expertise, and responsible innovation. You will be joining agile team of 5 developers, and work alongside other developers and QA engineers already in Belgrade as well as in USA.

Requirements

Minimum 6 years of professional experience in software development
Minimum of 3 years Java and Spring Boot experience on backend
Minimum of 3 years of experience with PostgreSQL (or equivalent relational databases)
Minimum 2 years of experience working with AWS (EC2, ECS, CloudFormation, CDK, AWS Glue, Redshift, S3, Lambda, MSK)
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience
Proficiency in English

Nice To Haves

Experience working on front end (Angular/React)
Experience writing unit, integration, and automated UI tests (JUnit, Jest, Cypress, or equivalent).
Experience with Kotlin and Python development.
Experience working with Metabase for reporting and data visualization.
Understanding of identity and access management solutions such as Keycloak.
Knowledge of event streaming and messaging platforms, including Apache Kafka and AWS MSK.
Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as Amazon DynamoDB or Apache Cassandra.

Responsibilities

Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in accordance with coding standards.
Review other code to ensure clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
Define architecture of software solution.
Implements software for specifications of high complexity for limited scale systems, or medium to high complexity for large-scale systems.
Responds to direct or indirect customer inquiries regarding function and design and attends customer meetings.
Writes application technical documentation.
Participates as a team member on various engineering projects.
