We are seeking DevOps/SRE Engineers who are passionate about marrying data with emerging technologies to join our team. As a SRE Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One. The Cloud Operations Resilience Engineering (CORE) Technology division is responsible for enabling and evolving Capital One’s foundational cloud infrastructure layer, including observability, connectivity, resilience and availability. The CORE/ SRE Team focuses on designing, building, and automating platform/application solutions for the most resilient experience possible. You will partner with LOB leaders to identify and remediate concerns with Resiliency, Observability, Deployment, and many other focus areas. SRE teams are an extension of the partner teams who drive the evolution and prioritization of risks/opportunities that cause different degrees of toil. What You’ll Do: Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices, and full stack systems to create solutions that help meet regulatory needs for the company Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community Collaborate with digital product managers, and deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences to help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment Utilize programming languages like Go, Python, JavaScript, Java, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of AWS tools and service

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 4 years of experience in DevOps Engineering (Internship experience does not apply)
  • At least 3 years of experience in Cloud Native technologies (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
  • At least 4 years of Unix or Linux system administration experience

Nice To Haves

  • 6+ years of SRE/DevOps Engineering experience
  • 5+ years of experience with coding and scripting (Python, SQL, Java, JavaScript, Golang, Bash, Perl or Ruby)
  • 3+ years of experience in infrastructure design, implementation and delivery
  • 3+ years of experience with monitoring tools (NewRelic, Splunk, or Zabbix)
  • 3+ years of experience with Container orchestration services including Docker or Kubernetes
  • 3+ years of experience working with Agile Development Practices
  • 1+ years of experience Claude code and Spec-driven development (SDD)
  • 1+ years of experience with Automation testing
