We are seeking Back End Software Engineers who are passionate about marrying data with emerging technologies. As a Capital One Software Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One. In this role, you will join a team responsible for the end-to-end testing of all Capital One credit card technology applications and their partner integrations. We are seeking a candidate with strong Software Engineering skills to design, execute, and extend automated testing capabilities across complex, integrated systems, including previously non-automated areas. You will partner closely with Engineers and Product Owners across teams to understand desired application capabilities, develop detailed test strategies, and support technical solutions across a full-stack environment. Beyond writing automated test cases for business-critical requirements, you will manage test execution between external partners, third-party vendors, and internal teams, while assisting with test data conditioning. Ultimately, your expertise will help continuously elevate testing maturity and best practices across our entire platform.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply)
  • At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree
  • 7+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js
  • 3+ years of experience in functional end-to-end testing, system testing, batch processing, user acceptance testing, regression, and test automation using tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or another test automation tool
  • 2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
  • 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
  • 1+ years of people management experience
  • 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
  • Experience leveraging interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity, utilizing capabilities beyond basic code completion

Responsibilities

  • Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices, and full stack systems to create solutions that help meet regulatory needs for the company
  • Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community, and from time to time, be asked to code or evaluate code
  • Collaborate with digital product managers, and deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences to help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment
  • Utilize programming languages like Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, and Scala, Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of AWS tools and services
