About The Position

The Site Safety Manager works independently under the direction of the Region EH&S Manager to perform multiple tasks, supporting many disciplines within the field Rigging & Crating group. The primary responsibility is to support field operations through site inspection, safety compliance, and site investigation for incidents involving employees, material, and equipment damage. This role must support an incident and injury-free field operation of MEI sites and promote continuous growth in safety culture. The Site Safety Manager will effectively communicate all MEI EHS policies, guidelines, and procedures, including regulatory changes and new business growth. They will support MEI sites with all customers and OSHA-required training (Site Specific, Protocol, OSHA, Forklift, etc.). This position provides program, technical, and administrative support of management systems directed by the Region EH&S Manager. The role works collectively with the Region EH&S Manager, safety, and operations teams to manage all incidents and accident cases through investigations and root cause analysis. This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

Requirements

Be qualified to recognize safety hazards
Hold current certifications in First Aid, CPR, and AED
Possess a current OSHA 30-hour Construction Card, updated every two years through an approved EHS training vendor
Have either an academic degree in safety or a minimum of three (3) years of full-time construction safety management experience
Hold at least one of the following safety certifications: ASP, CHST, or CSP
Minimum 5 years proven Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) experience or Safety experience in construction or manufacturing industries at a multi-site organization.
Minimum 5 years of experience working with OSHA standards.
Minimum 5 years of experience working in MS Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) preferred.
Possess OSHA 500 (Authorized Construction Outreach Trainer) (the training must be updated based on the frequency of version change [ e.g., NFPA 70E training must be updated as version changes are released every three years]).
Datacenter experience is preferred.
Three years of electrical safety experience on HV/MV systems.
Five years of electrical experience.
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E or other local equivalent training (the training must be updated as version changes are released every three years).

Responsibilities

Support field operations through site inspection, safety compliance, site investigation for incidents involving employees, material and equipment damage.
Support an incident and injury-free field operation of MEI sites and promote continuous growth safety culture.
Effectively communicate all MEI EHS policies, guidelines, procedures, including regulatory changes and new business growth.
Support MEI sites with all customers, and OSHA required training (Site Specific, Protocol, OSHA, Forklift, Etc.).
Provide program, technical, and administrative support of management systems directed by the Region EH&S Manager.
Work collectively with the Region EH&S Manager, safety, and operations teams manage all incidents and accident cases through investigations and root cause analysis.
Manage site incident prevention program (SIPPS), Hot work permits, Confined Space, HAZCOM, Material Safety Data Sheets (SDS’s), and other applicable safety regulations.
Coordinate with our customers in support of on-site safety initiatives, unique site conditions and mitigation of risk.
Develop, prepare, and instruct on safe work instructions, procedures, and job hazard analyses (JHA’s).
Conduct daily audits and approval of Pre-task plans using the hierarchy of controls to mitigate risk, reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses.
Conduct routine inspections and observations to evaluate environment, equipment, and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards.
Prepare and maintain all administrative record keeping and other administrative tasks as needed, such as site safety inspection reports, site audits, observation reports, customer specific site safety documentation and training records.
Address and document all Safety violations by MEI personnel immediately.
Provide ongoing safety and health related training and required certifications for existing employees, new hires, and sub-contractors as required.
Participate in learning teams to develop more efficient processes/methods in support of continuous improvement initiatives.
Identify and assess conditions which could produce accidents and financial losses and evaluating the potential extent of resulting injuries.
Work with the Region EH&S Manager on accident-prevention and loss-control systems and programs for incorporation into operational policies of the organization.
Develop and maintain relationships with outside firms and organizations such as vendors, OSHA, fire/police departments, etc.
