About The Position

As a Lead Site Reliability Engineer within JPMorgan Chase’s EPAS team, you will hold a leadership role, demonstrate broad technical knowledge, and advise colleagues on technical and business issues. You will lead resiliency design reviews, break complex problems into actionable work for other engineers, serve as technical lead for medium- to large-sized products, and provide advice and mentoring. The role focuses on improving the reliability and stability of applications and platforms through data-driven practices, service-level objectives, incident response, and AI-assisted reliability workflows. You will use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities while validating outputs and handling operational data according to sensitivity and security requirements.

Requirements

Formal training or certification in site reliability engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
Proficiency in reliability, scalability, performance, security, enterprise system architecture, toil reduction, and other site reliability best practices.
Fluency in at least one programming language, such as Python, Java/Spring Boot, or .NET.
Experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to improve SRE workflows, with strong validation practices and awareness of data sensitivity.
Ability to assess AI-assisted operational recommendations for correctness and risk, define appropriate usage guardrails, and align outcomes with resiliency and security expectations.
Proficient knowledge and experience in observability, including white- and black-box monitoring, service level objective alerting, and telemetry collection.
Proficiency with continuous integration and continuous delivery practices and tooling.
Proficiency with containers and container orchestration.
Experience troubleshooting common networking technologies and issues.
Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes, emerging depth in one or more technical disciplines, and the ability to self-educate to evaluate and recommend suitable new technologies.

Responsibilities

Model and champion site reliability culture and practices; document and share knowledge through internal forums and communities of practice.
Lead initiatives to improve application and platform reliability and stability using data-driven analytics, proactively identifying and resolving technology bottlenecks.
Collaborate with the team to identify service level indicators and work with stakeholder partners to establish service level objectives and error budgets.
Use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to accelerate major-incident triage, troubleshooting, and post-incident analysis, validating outputs and handling operational data according to sensitivity and security requirements.
Serve as the main point of contact during major incidents for the application and identify and resolve issues quickly to avoid financial loss to the business.
Provide technical expertise, advice, and mentorship to other engineers.
Lead reuse-first adoption of AI-assisted reliability workflows across SDLC and toolchain practices, including CI/CD quality checks, test and validation automation, and operational readiness, ensuring traceability, auditability, resiliency, and security controls.
Lead resiliency design reviews, decompose complex problems into work for other engineers, and act as technical lead for medium- to large-sized products.
