About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Simulation Software Architect to join our Simulation and Testbeds Team in El Segundo, CA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization. Our team builds software and hardware-based satellite simulators and emulators in support of the world’s highest performing satellite systems for the United States Government (USG) and Commercial customers. We are looking for a skilled and motivated software architect/developer to create innovative solutions and support existing capabilities for multiple software-based projects. This is an opportunity to work in a rapid development environment using modern technologies and tools. Our team works within an agile methodology in a CI/CD environment. We are looking for people who like to try new things and aren’t afraid of a challenge!

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 3+ years’ experience with systems and software architectures
  • 5+ years’ experience programming in C/C++
  • Experience communicating complex technical risks, translating impact, and advising senior leaders
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 9+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 13+ years of directly related work experience OR 17+ years of related, relevant experience
  • Experience with simulation products, including both Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and open-source solutions.
  • Experience with infrastructure tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines)
  • Familiarity with Agile or SAFe practices, including daily standup, User Stories, Sprints, and Program Increment Planning

Responsibilities

  • Leads and actively contribute to the development of requirements, architectures, and simulation models for various satellite subsystems
  • Plans and execute software development tasks across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, coding, integration, testing, and deployment, in accordance with product specifications
  • Works independently and collaboratively to complete trade studies, detailed designs, and verification and validation activities
  • Delivers innovative, high-impact solutions to complex technical challenges
  • Provides critical technical support and independent review of teammates’ work products
