About The Position

Vision IT is seeking a highly experienced Lead Server Lead / Systems Administrator IV to support enterprise IT operations at Los Angeles Air Force Base (LAAFB). This senior-level position is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the enterprise server, backup, database, storage, and print environments supporting mission-critical Department of Defense (DoD) operations. The selected candidate will serve as the technical lead for server and infrastructure operations, providing strategic direction, lifecycle management recommendations, and advanced technical expertise to ensure system availability, security, resiliency, and operational continuity across the enterprise environment. This role requires a proactive leader with deep systems administration experience, strong troubleshooting capabilities, and the ability to support complex DoD infrastructure modernization initiatives in a secure operational environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in systems administration, enterprise server management, storage administration, or infrastructure operations.
  • Extensive experience supporting enterprise server, backup, storage, and database environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams within large-scale enterprise IT infrastructures.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux administration.
  • Experience with: Enterprise backup solutions, Storage Area Networks (SAN), Virtualization platforms, Print management systems, Infrastructure monitoring and management tools
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical environments within DoD or federal government organizations preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting U.S. Air Force or U.S. Space Force enterprise environments.

  • Active Secret Clearance or higher strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee enterprise server, backup, database, storage, and print management environments supporting mission-critical operations.
  • Manage daily operational activities for the Server/Database team, including system maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and infrastructure support.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, reliability, and security of enterprise systems and storage platforms.
  • Provide technical leadership for infrastructure upgrades, modernization initiatives, migrations, and technology refresh efforts.
  • Monitor system health, capacity utilization, backup operations, disaster recovery readiness, and operational performance metrics.
  • Advise Government leadership on infrastructure lifecycle management, equipment refresh schedules, sustainment planning, and operational improvements.
  • Develop and recommend technical solutions that improve scalability, resiliency, automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Support installation, configuration, patch management, hardening, and optimization of Windows and Linux server environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex server, database, storage, virtualization, backup, and printing issues.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, networking, engineering, and enterprise support teams to ensure secure and compliant operations.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), configuration baselines, and infrastructure diagrams.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD security policies, STIG requirements, RMF processes, and operational standards.
