About The Position

SENER is seeking a Lead Senior Environmental Engineer to join their Toronto office. This role involves supporting environmental programs on Rail/LRT projects and collaborating with key stakeholders. The position offers a hybrid work environment with 3 days per week in the office, located in either the downtown or east end project office. The ideal candidate will have direct ownership of environmental programs and guide a team of specialists. SENER is an established engineering and construction firm with a global presence, focused on providing advanced and sustainable engineering solutions.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of demonstrated experience in Environmental engineering, preferably on Rail or large Civil infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of the Province of Ontario’s Transit Project Assessment Process, GO Transit, and Environmental Assessment Act (Ontario).
  • Effective communication and organization skills.
  • Must possess effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, and the ability to coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Must be okay working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be based in the Toronto area.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in permitting and/or noise & vibration on large projects is a strong asset.
  • A background in Environmental Engineering with a P.Eng being an asset.
  • Leadership experience is an asset.
  • Some experience managing other employees is an asset but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and directing resources including hydrogeologists, risk assessment specialists, soil and groundwater contamination and management specialists, environmental planning specialists, erosion and sediment control specialists, climate change and sustainability specialists, aquatic specialists, species at risk specialists, biologists, and noise and vibration specialists.
  • Defining subcontracts, scope, supervising submission deadlines, managing the approval process, approving invoices, and evaluating progress.
  • Ensuring environmental issues and requirements are met in accordance with agreements.
  • Supporting internal environmental design reviews, including the development of mitigation and compensation proposals acceptable to the Province and Environmental Authorities.
  • Implementing environmental management plans and monitoring/verifying compliance with their requirements.
  • Implementing environmental quality management systems and procedures in collaboration with the Quality Manager, responsible for the Environmental Quality Management Plan.
