About The Position

FST Technical Services is hiring a Lead Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer to lead commissioning work for data centers and other mission-critical facilities. The role focuses on ensuring critical systems are designed correctly, installed properly, and perform under real-world conditions. The engineer will lead commissioning activities across the project lifecycle, work independently while leading others, solve complex technical challenges, and oversee commissioning outcomes in high-stakes environments. The position involves managing multiple assignments while maintaining schedule, budget, and quality expectations; evaluating electrical distribution systems and building system interconnectivity; troubleshooting performance issues; reviewing design documentation and submittals; and engaging with clients and contractors. The engineer will also document field work, support scheduling and revenue targets, and mentor junior engineers. Regular travel to project sites is required, with potential for broader U.S. travel, and the role must work on-site as required. The listed salary range is $130,000–$170,000, based on experience.

Requirements

Electrical Engineering degree or a Qualified Electrician background.
At least 7 years of experience in electrical systems or at least 3 years of commissioning experience.
Data center or mission-critical experience.
Experience with electrical distribution, HVAC systems, controls, fire alarm, and automation.
Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Ability to lead meetings and manage multiple priorities.
Ability to work in field environments, climb ladders, and lift approximately 30 lbs.
Ability to travel regularly to project sites, potentially more broadly across the U.S., and work on-site as required.

Responsibilities

Lead commissioning activities across the full project lifecycle.
Execute and oversee functional testing, factory witness testing, and on-site validation.

Interpret contract documents to identify risks and opportunities.
Evaluate electrical distribution systems and building system interconnectivity.
Troubleshoot system performance issues in real time.
Review design documentation and submittals.
Lead commissioning meetings and communicate findings.
Serve as a trusted partner to clients and contractors.
Complete field reports and documentation, and manage time effectively.
Support scheduling and revenue targets.
Mentor junior engineers and support training initiatives.
