About The Position

L3Harris is seeking a senior level Security/Vulnerability Research Engineer to perform reverse engineering tasks for vulnerability detection and manipulation of targeted systems. The role involves working at a dedicated facility in Melbourne, FL, supporting National Security customers to protect and defend the nation through Security Vulnerability and Research efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience
  • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance required
  • 5+ years’ experience working with disassembly tools like Ghidra or IDA Pro
  • 5+ years’ experience performing vulnerability research on hardware platforms, software applications, or firmware services to identify potential security risks

Nice To Haves

  • Professional hands-on experience with diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, power supplies, and logic analyzers
  • Professional experience working in Unix/Linux operating systems and environments
  • Experience in firmware creation and debugging
  • Experience with embedded hardware and software design, development, and testing processes
  • Background in developing hardware platforms
  • Competence in one or more low-level programming languages
  • Knowledge and expertise in RF systems and technologies
  • Familiarity with wired and wireless protocols at Layer 1 and Layer 2, including USB, SPI/I2C/1-Wire, Ethernet, PCI-Express, 802.11, Bluetooth, Cellular, and others
  • Ability to lead and manage engineering teams effectively
  • Experience developing custom emulation solutions to enable dynamic analysis using tools such as QEMU
  • Experience writing plugins for decompilers such as IDA and Ghidra
  • Proficient in agile development methodologies for efficient collaboration and iterative development
  • Skill in soldering, prototyping, and analyzing electronic circuits

Responsibilities

  • Perform vulnerability research on hardware platforms, software applications, and firmware services to identify potential security risks
  • Conduct reverse engineering across multiple architectures and platforms, including ARM, x86, x64, and MIPS
  • Leverage both static and dynamic analysis tools for firmware/software evaluation
  • Experience working with disassembly tools like Ghidra or IDA Pro
  • Apply knowledge of offensive and defensive reverse engineering techniques, including countering and developing advanced security measures
  • Design, develop, or analyze low-level system components, including kernel modules and other system foundational firmware services
  • Write and utilize scripts in languages such as Python, or similar
  • Develop software solutions using C or C++ programming languages
  • Debug and create firmware for computer systems
