Requirements

  • Minimum: High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Two years work-related experience.
  • May require a Guard Card or ability to obtain a Guard Card per State requirements.
  • Knowledge of investigative techniques.
  • Knowledge of riot and crowd control techniques.
  • Knowledge of law enforcement procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid State driver’s license.
  • Must obtain and maintain valid CPR/FA certificates.
  • Ability to effectively relate to trainee population.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to obtain state Security officer certification within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or closely related field.
  • Safety Certifications, law enforcement experience.
  • Extensive experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising the day-to-day operations of the Safety and Security Department to provide maximum safety and security for students, staff, center property and the surrounding community.
  • Serving as the center’s designated safety and occupational health officer.
  • Ensuring proper screening of staff, students, and visitors entering and exiting the site.
  • Responsible for the Center Occupational Health and Safety program.
  • Modeling the Company Core Values and the operating principles at all times.
  • Creating and sustaining positive working relationships with co-workers.
  • Adhering to all PRH and CSDC policies and procedures, and the Center Operating Procedures.
  • Assisting students in adjusting to Center life to enhance student retention by providing supervision, behavior modification, counseling, and by acting as a positive role model and mentor.
  • Ensuring that student needs are met in a timely professional manner with the highest degree of customer service in mind.
  • Preparing reports and forms and documenting in CIS case notes and files observations of student’s behavior, performance, notable information or events, and progress towards achieving goals and objectives.
  • Maintaining confidentiality but reporting significant events or situations immediately through approved channels to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff, and to ensure that required reporting occurs, and that students receive emergency services as needed.
  • Facilitating prompt and appropriate assistance to students in the event of injury, illness, or emotional trauma.
  • Meeting individually with students assigned to their area responsibility at a minimum of once each month documenting the meetings in case notes.
  • Ensuring equipment and assigned work areas are clean and maintained in accordance with Center, CSD, and DOL standards, including conducting quarterly property counts, submitting property relocation requests, may serve as a property custodian, and submits maintenance requests as needed.
  • Enforcing all laws, rules and regulations.
  • Enforcing the Zero Tolerance Policy and reporting violations immediately to supervisor and/or duty officer.
  • Acting as the Security supervisor on shift.
  • Patrolling assigned areas and remaining alert for disturbances, fires, safety hazards, traffic violators, suspicious acts and/or persons, and other unusual conditions.
  • Aiding and assisting visitors, students, and staff.
  • Performing building security and safety checks and inspections.
  • Receiving complaints, investigating complaints, and documenting facts incident reports, investigation summary reports.
  • Escorting students as directed to dorms, security, may monitor students involved in discipline incidents, and may pack and transport students.
  • Investigating vehicular accidents at the center and completing vehicle accident reports.
  • Responding to any reports of disturbances, unauthorized visitors, medical emergencies, and may be asked to search and quickly locate students upon request.
  • Preparing written accident reports involving students, staff, and visitors.
  • Enforcing center pass policy.
  • Attending training as required.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
